Hi There,

Thank you for being here and making the space to start your 15 minutes to Relentless Self Care Practices. It really is a moment that should be celebrated.

If you are new here, you might be wondering, what is this?

Extraordinary the Ordinary is a space to make even the most mundane more meaningful – one choice at a time.

Ok, yea, but how does that work?

Well, it works by pulling together a slew of exercises to encourage us all to practice 15 minutes of relentless self care.

That sounds nice, but where do I begin.

Fantastic inquiry, I appreciate you asking.

1. I would recommend you familiarize yourself with the 15 minute relentless self care practice idea.

2. Then, I would suggestion taking a minute to learn more about my 5Ws, 1H that drive the intention and expectation of ExOr.

3. Finally, if you are still in it with me, I’d give you a massive stamina award, and then encourage you to try a 15 minute self care practice yourself, or at least find one that calls to you and put it on your hectic schedule for later on today.

No matter what you do, Start Here, today, right now if you are able. Then let’s connect about it.

Practice Pause: Sometimes taking a minute for yourself can bring up uncomfortable sensations and difficult emotions, if you find yourself in any distress, please reach out – to dear one, to a professional, to me.

I am not a mental health professional, by any means, but I have one myself and have compiled a Resource Library of Mental Health Matters. It may feel like it, but you are not alone and you deserve to heal hurts. Start today – if you are able.

Great job!

I am truly honored and delighted that you are here, today, having made it through my ramblings. I hope you find what I have to say uplifting or at the very least, a useful way to spend a few minutes of your precious time and energy.

This is new to me, so there will be bumps and bumbles along the way. Please be patient with me and grant me the grace that you wish for yourself.

Until we get to connect again – I wish you an extraordinarily ordinary day.
Take good care.

Welcome to Extraordinary the Ordinary, I am delighted you stopped by.

ExOr is a place that acknowledges how life as a grownup can be pretty mundane – the endless responsibilities, the plethora of roles, the relentless expectations. It is a space that encourages taking 15 minutes a day for only yourself to consider & challenge, create & celebrate. It is a base for finding ways to make life a little more extraordinary, in the midst of so much ordinary.

I hope ExOr is a part of the day that inspires grace, brings beauty, and leaves behind a trail of tales from the past, stories of the now, and dabblings in the what could be.

Please Join ExOr, if you are able, and in the meantime take good care.

15 Min

Since my folks passed, I’ve been seeing a therapist pretty regularly. Lawdy knows, I certainly could have used it before then, but mom’s dementia and death, followed by my dad’s sudden and shattering departure 14months later required I make it a priority.
At first, it was mostly to help me cope with overwhelming grief and guilt and chaos. Lately it’s been a time for me to dig in and open up, and then integrate what parts come up with my most caring, and curious, and ideally, contented self.

Mental Health Matters

Listen, we all struggle. For some of us it’s episodic, but for others it’s a chronic condition. Either way, pain is real and should be seen and valued.
I’ve come to learn that one way or another, if one’s wounds are unattended, they find a way to make themselves known – sometimes in the most dramatic of ways – like when I had my first panic attack in the middle of a benign load of laundry.

Relentless Self Care

Self care is the notion that a soul must be tended to or it will wither. It is this idea that wellness comes from nurturing all parts of one’s complex self. It is the relentless practice of making the time to consider & challenge, create & celebrate to enliven one’s soul and spirit.

According to the dictionary, self care is the act of attending to one’s physical or mental health, generally without medical or other professional consultation.

I love how straightforward that reads. Imagine a wellness intervention that addresses the body, mind, and spirit, but doesn’t require the cumbersome medical system, a big fatty bill, or a slew of aggravating obligations compressing an already hectic day. Sounds glorious, doesn’t it?

I’m Kristi, a pretty typical gal who was just recently told by a dear friend that I’m in midlife. I was shocked.

Then I looked around at my daughters (9 and 6), my husband (of more years than I can easily recall), and my accomplishments (not as many as I’d like) and found myself wondering if this is all that I am. It’s certainly not all I intended to be.

All this internal turmoil seemed pretty classic for this season in life, but then the pandemic hit and those inside voices just got louder and more unruly.

Thank You
